BigCommerce is the most like-for-like to Shopify. They really are very similar, right down to the pricing and templates on offer. There are a few key differentiators though, which drive some towards Shopify and others to BigCommerce. There are more apps on Shopify and more functions built into BigCommerce. BigCommerce don’t have transaction fees at all, but they charge more for their plans if you reach a certain level of sales, so it comes down to what your priorities are.

However, if you have big ambitions of having a large catalogue of products and are looking for more sophisticated marketing options, including selling on other marketplaces, then it’d be better to look to Shopify, BigCommerce or Wix.
